Symptoms Of Urinary Tract Infections With Cats

The treatments for urinary tract infections are usually determined by the symptoms that the cat has. The symptoms of the urinary tract infection can vary depending on how serious the infection is. One of the biggest symptoms is when the cat is having problems with using the litterbox but there are also other symptoms that can develop in time.

Symptoms of a cat urinary tract infection:

- not using the litterbox
- peeing outside of the litterbox
- crying while trying to use the litterbox
- urinating in bathtubs or sinks
- tiny amounts of urination but frequent
- straining while trying to urinate
- blood with the urine
- licking themselves often

Whenever a cat starts to strain when they have a urinary tract infection this is a very serious symptom. It means that the urine might be blocked and it is considered an emergency when this happens because it could lead to death if the cat is not given proper treatment when they start straining. Most times the symptoms start out very mild but within just a few days the symptoms can develop rapidly and create diseases and very serious infections. Kittens and adult cats can develop any of these symptoms with urinary tract infections.
