Feline Ear Mite Symptoms

Ear mites are very uncomfortable for your young cat. In usual cases, the first symptom the owner of the cat can notice is its unusual scratching of ears and shaking of head in response to the extreme itchiness caused by these tick-like parasites.

Further, the progressive stages of this parasitic infection lead to the accumulation of dark brown or red colored discharge in the ear canals of the cats. This mainly happens due to the infestation of ear mites in the ear canal region of the suffering cat. Further, another evident sign of the attack of ear mites in a cat is untimely bleeding in its ear. In addition, the cat may experience the appearance of black colored debris similar to the shape of coffee grounds in the canal of the ear. Your infected cat may become unusually smelly and also experience the formation of hideous scratch marks all over the body, especially on the areas around the ear.

In severe cases, if the infestation of feline ear mites is left undiagnosed, it may experience permanent damages in the ear organs. Wounds may start appearing in the ear due to continuous scratching by the pet. In case the wounds are left unattended for long, bacterial organisms may seek entry and worsen the condition.
