What Is Rabies In Dogs?
|
Rabies is a kind of virus which has a direct impact on the spinal cord and brain of mammals which can be cats, humans and dogs. Studies have proved that thousands of dog die every year because of rabies. Since there is no treatment for rabies, once the animal gets infected by it, then the result is sure death.
The most common source of passage of rabies is saliva of the infected dog. If the saliva of the rabies infected dog comes in contact with the wound or if that dog bites then rabies is transmitted from that dog to the other person. The symptoms of rabies are divided into three stages and the first one is initial stage which last for a time of 2 to 3 days. These are very mild symptoms and are difficult to detect. The dog will suffer from change in the behavior. The second stage is known as furious stage which will last for 2 to 4 days and some dog miss this phase and directly move on to the final phase.
This phase shows symptoms like aggression and attacking tendencies. This is the final phase which will slowly take the dog towards death and it is characterized by paralysis of jaw and unable to swallow.
