What is Lyme Disease in Dogs?

Bacteria named Borrelia burgdorferi causes Lyme disease in dogs. They can attack several internal systems of the dogs. The bacteria are generally transferred from certain ticks to the dogs. The problem with this disease is that they are very difficult to identify as no two cases are similar. Secondly the symptoms are not visible in early stages or are often interpret as some other disease.

 Due to such confusing situation they might lead to various major problems for your pet. A deer tick bite is one of the most common bites that have affected a dog with Lyme disease. Some of the early symptoms may include sore feet that lead to limping or elevated temperature. The owners should take several precautions in order to avoid this disease. Keep the environment neat and clean so that it is ticks-free.

 Apart from this, bathe your dog with the proper shampoo to remove all the dirt from his body regularly. In case the dog contracts the disease them immediately consult the vet and start the necessary treatments that will help in eliminating Lyme disease.  Get a regular check up of your dog so that you will come to know about his physical well being.
