Is it Possible for a Cat to have Liver Cancer?
|
Yes, it is possible to find liver cancer among cats as well. This form of cancer is called feline liver cancer and affects only a small percentage of cats. The outburst of this disease takes place due to the occurrence of two types of tumors.
The first kind of tumor progresses inside the liver and the second type progresses in some other body part and then spreads to liver. The former kind of liver cancer which progresses due to the development of tumor inside the liver is called primary feline liver cancer and is fatal in nature. The second form of cancer which triggers due to the spread of tumor from one body part to the liver is a more dangerous manifestation of feline liver cancer.
In this form, the cancer spreads to the entire body parts and dysfunctions most of the organs in the body system of the cat. In such a case, the survival chances of the suffering cat are quite narrow. The worst aspect of this disease is that it cannot be easily detected. The liver continues to function, even if partially diseased because of which the veterinary physicians do not come to know or find difficulties on diagnosing this dangerous disease among suffering cats. |
