Can Kidney Failure Occur in Dogs?
|
Many people are in a notion that kidney failure is the common problem among human beings wherein it is equally common among the canine pets. This situation occurs when the kidneys stop functioning in a proper manner. Kidney is the organ which filters the fluids inside the body and flushes out the waste particles from the body.
There can be two different types of renal failures which are chronic and acute. Chronic renal failure is observed in dogs but this problem become visible when the symptoms get visible. There are no cures available for the chronic problems. The acute renal failure takes place suddenly and this is often a result of loss of function.
Some toxins like extracts of poisonous plants and antifreeze agents are the causes of kidney failure in dogs. Low blood pressure might also lead to this problem wherein the decrease in the flow of blood worsens the condition. But this problem is quite reversible and might result in urinary blockage. The early symptoms include increased urination and thirst. The kidney stops filtering fluids and the dog’ health get deteriorated remarkably. It is to be noted that the acute conditions, if not treated at the earliest might lead to chronic failure that is incurable. |
