What are the Symptoms and Process of Diagnosis of Feline Hyperesthesia Syndrome?

Feline Hyperesthesia Syndrome is very similar to a seizure syndrome and is also called as the feline rolling skin syndrome. Cats suffering from the feline hyperesthesia syndrome often display an erratic change in their behavior. Due to this syndrome cats often seem to fantasize, become highly active or display violent behavior.

Other common signs of feline hyperesthesia syndrome are the ripping of skin near the cat’s tail area, dilated pupil, loud meowing and sudden changes in the mood. Sometimes due to the occurrence of feline hyperesthesia syndrome cats tends to suffer from bleeding or severe loss of hair. It also causes symptoms like the sudden swishing of the tail due to which the cats tends to attack their tail with a vengeance which often leads to injuries. Since little is known about this disease there is hardly any definite method to diagnose feline hyperesthesia syndrome. Usually in these particular cases the most common way to diagnosis is to eradicate the prospect of other causes.

Veterinarians usually recommend a complete physical check up of the cat suffering from the disease and also examine the cat’s behavioral history. In many cases veterinarians recommend blood test to examine the blood count, chemistry profile and the thyroid hormones level in the cat’s body. After considering all these factors proper treatment for the feline hyperesthesia syndrome can be started.
