There are numerous instances wherein the dogs suffer from kidney failure but the problem is not detected at the initial stages. Weak kidneys can happen to dogs of almost all ages although it is common among those which are 9 years or older than that.

This is in fact a slowly growing disease that damages the kidney and it stops the filtration functions. Acute renal failure is still a curable stage of this disease but when the chronic stages occur, there are no chances left for complete cure. Kidney failure can be worsened at the last stages that are III or IV. This is when the kidneys can no more filters the fluids and ejects the waste particles from the body.

These particles that are not excreted can build up in the bloodstream which in turn results in loss of weight and vomiting. Anorexia and bad breath are two other problems occurring with the dogs suffering from kidney failure. At the last stages of kidney failure the dogs might experience mouth ulcers which are extremely painful. Murmur in the heart or irregularity in heartbeats can also be observed as a result. Anemia is also a symptom at this stage of kidney failure.
