Ear mites are nothing but tiny ear parasites that breed inside the ear canal of the infected cat. The organism that is mainly responsible for the progression of this discomfort is Otodectes cynotis.

 The most evident symptoms of feline ear discomfort are the unusual scratching of ears or sometimes, shaking head in an abnormal pattern. Further, the inside regions of the cat’s ear become unusually dark brown or red in color. This condition is known to be highly contagious and can easily pass on from one cat to another through a mere skin contact. Thus, if your pet cat is suffering from this distress, it should be kept aloof from the rest of the cats it socializes with. Feline ear mites appear in the form of a tick and cannot be viewed with naked eyes.

 Once these parasites start infesting into the ear of the cat, they devour away the essential oils, wax and tissues. Therefore, to avoid permanent damages in the ears of the affected cat, it is most advisable to seek the intervention of a veterinary doctor to relieve your cat from this condition.
