In rare cases, a heartworm test is conducted on the suffering cat which if positive clearly indicates the infestation of a harmful micro-organism in its body. Further, Bronchoscopy is suggested as another diagnostic measure, in case the above measures fail to confirm the presence of asthma in the cat. This test is only conducted by a specialist who thoroughly examines the airway of the cat with the aid of a fiberoptic scope.

This tool can also be used to gently scratch the swab of mucus or other fluid collected at the bronchial tubes and airways for further examination.
