Skin disorders are the most widespread health problems among cats. Skin disorders are of various types and are triggered by different reasons. The first kind of feline skin disease is the immune-intervened skin disorders which are commonly caused due to the immune deficiency in the cat’s body.
Due to the outbreak of the disease cats usually suffer from frequent attacks of skin infection and blisters. This particular disease causes hypersensitivity disorders and eosinophilic skin ailments like feline eosinophilic granuloma, military dermatitis and atopic dermatitis. It also causes skin ailments like discoid lupus and pemphigus. The second type of skin disorder is the infectious skin disorder such as dermatophytosis or ringworm. Other examples of skin infections are lice plague, mange and ectoparasites which is caused due to tick and flea infestations.
The most common feline skin ailment is the abscess. The third type of skin disorder is the hereditary and developmental skin disorder. This comprises of skin diseases like the hereditary or congenital alopecia, hereditary hypotrichosis and skin fragility syndrome. The fourth category of skin disorder is thecutaneous manifestations of internal diseases. This skin ailment is the most harmful of all feline skin diseases and causes skin fragility syndrome which can be triggered due to malnourishment or diabetes or due to excess use of cortisone drugs.
