How to look after your Cats when they have a Cold?

If your cat has a cold first take it to the vet. Don’t take it easy as severe cases of cold can lead to anemia, dehydration, blindness, pneumonia or even death. Feed your sick cat with healthy food. Usually your kitty appetite levels depends on the smell of the food, so try to give them canned food as it has strong aroma.

Make sure that your cat drinking only fresh water at all times. Cats always want to drink lot of liquids items to prevent desiccation. Clean your cat's nose with soft sponge at times. Maintain hygienic environment around your pet. Clean their nose very often using lukewarm water and cotton sponge and also maintain your sick cat’s tender skin from cracking. Grumpy buildup around the nose will be highly irritable to your cat, so clean them whenever needed. If your cat is affected with severe cold and running nose, use nasal bulb to take out the extra mucous secretion from his nostrils. Your cat’s eyes will have some runny discharge as it normally happens with all type of cold viruses.

 Clean before it become a crust. Even though a cold or flu is not curable, your vet might advise antibiotics to keep secondary infections. Follow your veterinarian's instructions strictly to avoid further sufferings. Don’t forget to wash your hands thoroughly with hot water and soap after cuddling your sick cat.
